4.8 ★★★★★ 155 Google reviews · Climbing gym in Scarborough, Maine

Indoor facility featuring varied climbing walls, plus a studio offering yoga and fitness classes.

Plan your visit

  • Gear rental nearly every climbing gym rents shoes (~$5–8 typical) and chalk; harness rental is often bundled with a ropes pass
  • Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
  • Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
  • First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
  • Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

From the reviews

I’m so impressed with how nice this facility is! I had a lot of fun on the auto belay climbs and on the bouldering walls. I cannot wait to go back!!! I went with some friends and we took turns belaying, but you can go solo and still have a great time!!

Never had been rock climbing before, but Salt Pump made it super easy! The staff were so friendly, helpful, and informative. So many options and amenities at the gym made it easy to be comfortable, even as a first-timer. Great experience, and I can't wait to go back again soon!

One of the most diverse climbing/bouldering gyms I've visited. Went there for their bouldering walls and was not disappointed. Big variety, friendly and helpful staff, very nice atmosphere and the view is just amazing! Will certainly come back when in Maine.

I first went to Salt Pump on a whim in January. A friend invited me and I went into it thinking this place was meant for kids. Here I am 3 months later going 2-3 times per week because I am fully addicted. Salt Pump has provided me with a great setting to fall in love with the sport of climbing.
