EVO Rock + Fitness Portland
4.7 ★★★★★ 127 Google reviews · Climbing gym in Portland, Maine
Well-equipped gym with tall indoor climbing walls, bouldering and yoga spaces.
Plan your visit
- Day pass around $20 — check current rates; most gyms price gear rental separately and discount off-peak
- Gear rental nearly every climbing gym rents shoes (~$5–8 typical) and chalk; harness rental is often bundled with a ropes pass
- Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
- Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
- First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
- Kids programs classes, camps, or youth teams mentioned — check the current schedule
- Yoga & fitness mentioned alongside the climbing — ask about the class schedule and what a pass includes
- Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

From the reviews
Great gym with fantastic community. I fell in love with climbing because of this gym!
This is a nice climbing gym! It's mostly focus on top roping which is not what I usually go for, but they have a little bouldering area as well that I thought was nicely set up. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the facilities were clean and well maintained.
We had a great time rock climbing here! The rock climbing walls are huge and are so fun with the auto belays. I also loved that there was a separate kids section so people with different skill levels could practice there. Overall we loved it, highly recommend!!
$20 for a day pass with ladies' night on Wednesdays means it's pretty affordable to come here with friends on a weeknight! They have a cap of 50 people right now, so we called ahead to make sure we wouldn't be bringing them to capacity (you can also check the site).
