Climbing gyms in Philadelphia

Philly's scene splits neatly: Movement Callowhill (the former Philadelphia Rock Gym flagship) and the PRG family cover full-service ropes-and-bouldering, while Tufas Boulder Lounge brings the indie bouldering-café energy. University walls (Drexel, Temple) fill the student end. Cheaper than New York in every way, including day passes — and the community skews welcoming over elite.

What local climbers say

Honestly half of the reason I got my membership was to attend Caroline’s yoga class, she is AMAZING! love the climbing and the people are always friendly. Only knocking down one star because they need more - and experienced - route setters. Complex routes tend to be inaccessible for short climbers.

It is a good recreation center with most of the equipments newly installed. The facility is clean and has great Vibe. The front desk and floor staffs are really good too. There need to be more lockers.

Stopped in with my daughter (age 10) with a Groupon. The gentlemen behind the desk were VERY nice with a great sense of humor. Our instructor was very knowledgeable and patient. We had a great time. The groupon provided a temp membership for 2 weeks following the day of our first visit.
