Casual climbing gym featuring roped, autmatic-belay and bouldering walls, plus a cafe, yoga classes and a weight room.

Plan your visit

  • Gear rental available — the gym mentions rentals; shoes typically run ~$5–8 and a harness is often bundled with a ropes pass
  • Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
  • Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
  • First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
  • Auto-belays mentioned here — clip in and climb ropes solo, no partner needed
  • Kids programs classes, camps, or youth teams mentioned — check the current schedule
  • Café on site somewhere to grab a coffee and hang out between climbs
  • Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

From the reviews

I joined Crux last summer without knowing any climbers..gosh it's been great! It's a smaller, affordable gym that has friendly, loyal members who care a lot about each other, climbing, and having fun. The staff made me feel welcome right away, and after a couple weeks I was on my way to climb outside with new friends.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Crux Rock Climbing Gym is a hidden gem! The layout maximizes every inch of space, offering an impressive array of routes for bouldering, auto-belay, top rope, and lead climbing.

★★★★★ — Alex, Mar 2024

Nice climbing gym in downtown Eugene. It’s quite small when compared to other top roping gyms in Oregon. But it offers some interesting terrain to climb on. Their rates are also cheaper so I think that’s okay. They have both bouldering and top roping options.

★★★★☆ — Waran, Sep 2022

New favorite spot in town. They have challenging climbing routes with multiple autobelay routes, bouldering, flexible memberships, and gear rental. The cafe and seating area is a great addition. My favorite part is the two friendly resident cats.
