Climbing gyms in Portland

Portland climbs like it means it: Movement's big flagship, Portland Rock Gym running since 1988 with two locations, and The Circuit's three bouldering-only gyms make this one of the best pound-for-pound climbing cities anywhere. Nine months of drizzle keeps the walls busy; Smith Rock pilgrimages keep everyone motivated. Prices are gentler than Seattle or SF, and the beginner scene is genuinely friendly.

What local climbers say

I've climbed here as an adult and as a parent. With over 7 years climbing experience, I can say that this is the best gym in Oregon. Kids will enjoy the top rope and bouldering areas. Just make sure to brief them on the rules and you're good to go! Adults have a lot of flexibility in terms of what they want to climb.

I recently took the Learn to Lead class with Abby and Brandon, and it was such a great experience. They were incredibly patient and made sure I had all the tools and skills I needed to confidently start lead climbing.

Best gym in town by FAR. The Beaverton location is HUGE. I can tell it’s a professional space because the climbs are challenging yet fun. I like the auto belay area where I can get some solo rope time in.
