What's inside
“Friendly atmosphere, came here with a mate, plenty of bouldering with a mix of levels - also dogs were present so always a win, meet Nala”
“When I went the entire window wall was being reset for an upcoming event, but the main area in the middle had plenty of routes and there are also spray walls and kilter boards.”
What climbers say again and again
“Density of climbs on the walls is super reasonable, and the setting is fun and cerebral without being gimmicky or pandering to a certain climber-type.”
“The setting style is very creative showcasing fun and unique movements across the difficulty scale where even a beginner can enjoy a route more than just a straight up ladder.”
“The space is very clean, the staff are very welcoming, and the setting is awesome.”
“Great people, route setting, training amenities, and hangout/stretch area upstairs!”
“The strength/weight area is great for a full workout after climbing, and I love that they offer lots of community events.”
From the reviews
Climbing AND crafting?! In one place?! Not only does Tomo have the most thought provoking and exceptional setting of any Portland climbing gym; they also have created a space for meaningful social gatherings and community.
Tomo is the platonic ideal of a bouldering gym. Floor to ceiling windows, natural light, friendly staff, new holds and sticky walls, huge mezzanine to work out of, great programming (spray wall night, knitting club, board game night, etc), local community collaborations and partnerships, spacious space (no more…
As a seasoned climber, whose partner has worked in the climbing industry for 10+ years, I don't exaggerate when I say Tomo is one of the best gyms I've ever been to.
New local climbing gym in the pearl area. Love the name, logo, and vision. The space is super open, clean, and lots of natural light from all the windows on the wall. The staff is super friendly making the atmosphere very homey.
Birthday parties at Tomo Bouldering Club
Tomo Bouldering Club hosts birthday parties, going by their listing and visitor reviews. Climbing parties come with staff who handle the harnesses and belaying, so parents can mostly watch. One thing that's different here: every guest needs a signed waiver — send the gym's waiver link to the other parents when you send invites, or check-in day gets slow. Packages, party rooms, and pricing change often, so check the current options and book ahead — weekend slots go fast at popular gyms.
