Rock-climbing gym with routes for beginners to experienced climbers, plus lead climbing and bouldering.
Plan your visit
- Day pass around $6 — check current rates; most gyms price gear rental separately and discount off-peak
- Gear rental nearly every climbing gym rents shoes (~$5–8 typical) and chalk; harness rental is often bundled with a ropes pass
- Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
- Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
- First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
- Auto-belays mentioned here — clip in and climb ropes solo, no partner needed
- Kids programs classes, camps, or youth teams mentioned — check the current schedule
- Yoga & fitness mentioned alongside the climbing — ask about the class schedule and what a pass includes
- Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

“The lead routes looked especially exciting and fun, but I really liked that the top rope section included some crack climbing, which isn’t something you come across very often 👀.”

From the reviews
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this rock climbing gym. The instructor, Kennon, was incredibly kind and thoughtful, taking the time to ensure everyone felt comfortable and, most importantly, safe throughout the session. We came as a group of seven climbers, including students with special needs.
Love me some Vertical Endeavors. I feel super safe here, including my family. It's wonderful to have a place that values quality routes, good general fitness, and is within a short drive of most of Chicagoland.
I had a really fun experience. I went with others who showed me the easy and more difficult climbs. It was lots of fun, and sore muscles if it's not something you're used to doing. And they gave a really nice staff who can help you get set up if you're just beginning.
Just had my son’s birthday party here and everyone had such a great time! The employee helping our group (16, 9-10 year old boys) was amazing and very patient helping everyone (I can’t recall his name). Would highly recommend hosting your next birthday party here.
Birthday parties at Vertical Endeavors
Vertical Endeavors hosts birthday parties — confirmed on their own site. Climbing parties come with staff who handle the harnesses and belaying, so parents can mostly watch. One thing that's different here: every guest needs a signed waiver — send the gym's waiver link to the other parents when you send invites, or check-in day gets slow. Packages, party rooms, and pricing change often, so check the current options and book ahead — weekend slots go fast at popular gyms.
Kids classes & camps at Vertical Endeavors
Reviews and the gym's own info mention kids programs at Vertical Endeavors — climbing classes, school-break camps, or a youth team where kids learn technique from coaches instead of just scrambling around. Program schedules and age groups change each season, so check the current lineup before you plan around one.
