Plan your visit
- Day pass around $18 — check current rates; most gyms price gear rental separately and discount off-peak
- Gear rental available — the gym mentions rentals; shoes typically run ~$5–8 and a harness is often bundled with a ropes pass
- Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
- Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
- First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
- Kids programs classes, camps, or youth teams mentioned — check the current schedule
- Ages 0–18 — the gym's own stated range
- Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

What climbers say again and again
“but don't let that stop you, the setting is top notch and the staff/community are uniquely friendly and supportive!”
From the reviews
ScratchPad is an awesome spot for climbers of all levels. The routes are well-set with a great mix of styles and difficulty. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and the vibe is super welcoming. Whether you're training hard or just having fun, ScratchPad delivers. Highly recommended!
Awesome place, staff and group of locals there. Great variety of dry tooling holds and routes for any level. The vibe felt like a climbing gym from a decade or 2 ago which I so miss. It's not a giant fancy overly commercialized gym.
Fantastic place to dry tool in Utah. A unique climbing experience. You climb with ice axes and there are many many horizontal traverse routes as well as many 24 feet top rope routes. Love climbing? Try something new. They have all the gear there to rent.
We found The Scratch Pad by chance, and we decided to give it a try. Dustin was awesome- we're climbers, but we'd never ventured out to ice/dry tooling. He was super helpful and really made the experience a great one.
Kids classes & camps at The Scratch Pad
Reviews and the gym's own info mention kids programs at The Scratch Pad — climbing classes, school-break camps, or a youth team where kids learn technique from coaches instead of just scrambling around. Program schedules and age groups change each season, so check the current lineup before you plan around one.
