Plan your visit

  • Gear rental nearly every climbing gym rents shoes (~$5–8 typical) and chalk; harness rental is often bundled with a ropes pass
  • Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
  • Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
  • First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems

From the reviews

Huge gym with an abundance of routes (ropes & bouldering), friendly staff, and great atmosphere! That being said, the benefits are reflected in the membership price which is almost double that of the next closest gym in Ventura.

Finally a full featured climbing gym in SB! Huge gym with two massive bouldering areas, dozens of top rope setups, tons of lead climbing including a fully horizontal arch, auto belays, cracks, regulation speed wall, dedicated kids area, awesome staff, great location, plenty of parking.

Excellent gym. Great space, excellent routes, great vibe. The staff is wonderful, supportive and happy to be there. Great addition to SB! Go!!

The Pad is the newest climbing gym in town! It has two floors of boulder problems, and a ton of top rope and lead routes. I had ton of fun checking it out! Spent about 1.5 hours bouldering. There were problems with difficulty levels ranging from V0 - V10 that I saw.
