Plan your visit
- Gear rental available — the gym mentions rentals; shoes typically run ~$5–8 and a harness is often bundled with a ropes pass
- Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
- Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
- First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
- Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

What's inside
“Bouldering and climbing is done on the walls with bouldering limited to climbing under a certain height without the use of the belay equipment.”
“I mostly just boulder here but I’ve also done top roping a few times.”
“There are no auto belays, so I wasn't able to take advantage of the full wall climbing, but my son loved it with me belaying him.”
What climbers say again and again
“This was my first time visiting a rock climbing gym, so I don't have anything to compare my experience to, but I'll do my best.”
“There are no auto belays, so I wasn't able to take advantage of the full wall climbing, but my son loved it with me belaying him.”
“Definitely worth going to climb there, the staff is friendly and knowledgable and the other climbers are great.”
“Nice equipment reasonably priced, and 2 hours was about all our muscles could handle.”
From the reviews
This was our second trip to Space City Rock Climbing. As with our first visit, everyone was very professional and wanting to ensure a good time was had by all. The staff went out of their way to make sure no one got hurt. The obstacles are of varying levels of difficulty.
Been coming here for nearly a year and absolutely love this place. Recently did a lock-in and climbed all night with good friends and it was an absolute blast. 10 out of 10 would recommend again and again. Definitely worth going to climb there, the staff is friendly and knowledgable and the other climbers are great.
Not the nicest gym I’ve been to by any means, but the community within the gym is amazing. I mostly just boulder here but I’ve also done top roping a few times. The top rope equipment is old but still in good shape.
Dwight was so helpful and nice to chat with when we came in to rock climb. Last time I went rock climbing was as a teenager so Dwight instructed my husband and I on how to use the belays and how to secure our harnesses. The belay lesson was so simple and made me and my husband confident to belay each other.
Birthday parties at Space City Rock Climbing
Space City Rock Climbing hosts birthday parties — confirmed on their own site. Climbing parties come with staff who handle the harnesses and belaying, so parents can mostly watch. One thing that's different here: every guest needs a signed waiver — send the gym's waiver link to the other parents when you send invites, or check-in day gets slow. Packages, party rooms, and pricing change often, so check the current options and book ahead — weekend slots go fast at popular gyms.
