Planet Rock Climbing Gym
4.6 ★★★★★ 438 Google reviews · Climbing gym in Madison Heights, Michigan
Bouldering and rock-climbing gym with auto-belay and lead options, plus training classes.
Plan your visit
- Day pass around $21 — check current rates; most gyms price gear rental separately and discount off-peak
- Gear rental nearly every climbing gym rents shoes (~$5–8 typical) and chalk; harness rental is often bundled with a ropes pass
- Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
- Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
- First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
- Kids programs classes, camps, or youth teams mentioned — check the current schedule
- Yoga & fitness mentioned alongside the climbing — ask about the class schedule and what a pass includes
- Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

“We climbed the boulder wall and took a top rope class with Madison, learned so much and she made sure we retained the information, succouring our pass.”

“With an extensive bouldering wall (I love being able to climb over the top), a ton of top rope, and lead climbs, there's plenty to do.”

“The pro-shop is well stocked and the cafe area is quite helpful when you need some chill time.”

From the reviews
I took a non-speaking Autistic family member who loves climbing to check out the bouldering wall. The staff was accommodating and kind. My family member was beaming and looked so thrilled to be able to have the freedom to climb! It's not too often we get to take his lead on planning family activities.
A+ great place to learn or advance your skills. Truly feel you are not judged here and everyone is helpful or learning themselves. Staff have always been friendly to work with. Check their website for training classes, prices etc.
Had such a fun time with my good friend Colton! The route (courses) were easy for beginners but challenging for most, I would definitely suggest this to anyone that’s thinking about coming or even rock climbing.
We came as a group of four for our first rock climbing experience ever! Caden was our instructor and he was so thorough and SO friendly!! We couldn't have felt more comfortable after our starter class and were released to do our own first climbs! He ensured we were fully equipped for safety!
