Spacious climbing centre featuring tall walls for roped climbing and a large bouldering space.
Plan your visit
- Gear rental available — the gym mentions rentals; shoes typically run ~$5–8 and a harness is often bundled with a ropes pass
- Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
- Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
- First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
- Kids programs classes, camps, or youth teams mentioned — check the current schedule
- Yoga & fitness mentioned alongside the climbing — ask about the class schedule and what a pass includes
- Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

From the reviews
Staff was extremely kind and knowledgeable. Bouldering area is AMAZING and being able to top rope all at the same gym was phenomenal. Since becoming members the staff has only gotten kinder and the snack selection keeps getting better.
Finally a place in Austin that does lead/top rope climbing and bouldering! I’m a v2-3 and I could do a lot of the routes fairly easily but there were also so many that were a higher grade than me so whatever level you are you won’t be disappointed! They also have a gym, a sauna, and ping ping!
We are big fans of MR in San Diego and Reno for years because of the incredibly good setting, facility and staff. MR Austin echoed the same of her predecessors. Driving up, the tall boxy and building, the entrance, the warm greetings, the clean and spacious layout, and the quality setting all remind us of a MR gym.
One of the most impressive indoor climbing facilities I've ever seen. It's huge, and they have great routesetting. Their hold selection is amazing. They have many of the latest modern holds in fiberglass. The gym has everything from beginner to advanced. The other climbers were friendly and energetic.
Birthday parties at Mesa Rim Climbing Center
Mesa Rim Climbing Center hosts birthday parties — confirmed on their own site. Climbing parties come with staff who handle the harnesses and belaying, so parents can mostly watch. One thing that's different here: every guest needs a signed waiver — send the gym's waiver link to the other parents when you send invites, or check-in day gets slow. Packages, party rooms, and pricing change often, so check the current options and book ahead — weekend slots go fast at popular gyms.
Kids classes & camps at Mesa Rim Climbing Center
Reviews and the gym's own info mention kids programs at Mesa Rim Climbing Center — climbing classes, school-break camps, or a youth team where kids learn technique from coaches instead of just scrambling around. Program schedules and age groups change each season, so check the current lineup before you plan around one.
