- Gear rental nearly every climbing gym rents shoes (~$5–8 typical) and chalk; harness rental is often bundled with a ropes pass
- Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
- Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
- First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
- Auto-belays mentioned here — clip in and climb ropes solo, no partner needed

- Yoga & fitness mentioned alongside the climbing — ask about the class schedule and what a pass includes

From the reviews
I love High Point! The Riverside location feels like it's geared more towards folks who climb for sport and less for tourists/families. The boulder problems seem more realistic in their setting and grade. The auto belays are generally harder grades there too.
This place is great! Their routesetters work really hard to keep the routes constantly rotating so there’s always something new to try for climbers of various skill levels. Membership is pricey, but worth it if you want a fresh workout experience week after week.
The staff, the gear, the equipment, and the facilities were all excellent. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. they went out of their way to make sure that my step daughter who has climbed before felt comfortable and even more so when it came to her friend who's never climbed before.
We really enjoyed our day at the riverside location (we normally go downtown, but it was just my husband and myself without our daughter) very clean, friendly staff as well as members. Several different routes of varying difficulty. Lots of bouldering avaliable as well as climbing with ropes.
