Plan your visit

  • Gear rental nearly every climbing gym rents shoes (~$5–8 typical) and chalk; harness rental is often bundled with a ropes pass
  • Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
  • Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
  • First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
  • Kids programs classes, camps, or youth teams mentioned — check the current schedule
  • Yoga & fitness mentioned alongside the climbing — ask about the class schedule and what a pass includes
  • Ages families visit with kids 5–11, going by reviews
  • Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

From the reviews

I began my bouldering adventure recently. Edgeworks was the second climbing gym I've ever visited. While I'd argue that the routes here are a bit more intermediate and advanced in difficulty, I've had a fantastic experience. Staff have been welcoming and help with all questions I have.

This is an incredible gym to be a part of. They have two large spaces for bouldering (I love this because most West Coast climbing gyms focuse more on climbing with a belay buddy). There are a lot of lower-level routes, which I appreciate as a long-term but still pretty bad climber!

★★★★★ — Erika, Feb 2023

This gym has it all! Lead, top rope, bouldering, kid climbing areas, weights, yoga, gear shop, and locker rooms with showers. The wall climbs even have a couple crack routes. Route setting is solid and the staff is very friendly. They also have indoor and outdoor courses as well as guiding services.

Edgeworks is wonderful. I primarily climb at the Bellevue location but also frequent the Tacoma location when I am in the area. The staff is warm, genuine, and incredibly knowledgeable about all things climbing. I feel like this is a second home when I am there!
