Plan your visit
- Gear rental nearly every climbing gym rents shoes (~$5–8 typical) and chalk; harness rental is often bundled with a ropes pass
- Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
- Belaying ropes gyms teach belaying or check your certification at the desk; bouldering and auto-belays need no partner and no belay test
- First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems

From the reviews
Been a member here for a while and it’s a cool place and one of few in Austin that have top rope and lead climbing as well as bouldering. They have an auto belay (two are speed belays so it’s even faster to get down) so you can come climb by yourself too!
First time ever coming to Crux and I had a genuinely great experience. The staff was super welcoming and helpful from the moment I walked in. They made the whole process easy for a first timer, and getting free gear rental with the first visit plus the affordable day pass made trying climbing out way more approachable.
My wife and I came in from out of town and had a great experience here. Crux is probably our 2nd favorite gym we've visited. (Sorry, Crux, the climbs up the silos in Carrollton, TX are hard to beat!) Super friendly staff who made sure we were comfortable and oriented.
Cool Climbing & so courteously accommodating! Great staff, super helpful & informative. Great walls to climb & the auto belay climbing is so nice. Many different climbing holds for different levels. So enjoyed ourselves!
