- Gear rental nearly every climbing gym rents shoes (~$5–8 typical) and chalk; harness rental is often bundled with a ropes pass
- Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
- First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
- Auto-belays mentioned here — clip in and climb ropes solo, no partner needed
- Yoga & fitness mentioned alongside the climbing — ask about the class schedule and what a pass includes
- Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

From the reviews
My first time at this gym and I absolutely love the settings. I’ve been climbing for 1.5 years and noticed some of the VB-V3 climbs are sandbagged. Not sure how beginners can even climb some of the easier sets! The gym has a training area and it’s so well used.
Cool little place! If you love bouldering this is the spot!. Cool technical boulders plenty to choose from. If you like auto belays not the place to be only 3 auto belays here. Despite that friendly staff chill atmosphere. This is a comparison to Stone Age gym in Albuquerque NM.
I had my daughter’s 6th birthday party today at Refuge Climbing and Fitness and it turned out to be amazing! The whole experience exceeded our expectations. A huge shoutout to Gorio and Lilly who were incredible with the kids.
Routes were more challenging than we are used to but so fun to visit another city’s climbing gym! My daughter loved the overhang routes, and we both enjoyed topping out and feeling like the Queen of the Mountain! Everything was clean, chill vibe, quite a few people there but still didn’t have to wait for routes.
