What's inside
“We have been going here once a year for about 3 years and would love to give a 5 out of 5 as the actual bouldering part of the gym is fantastic.”
“We've all never done it before 😊 They have a nice cafe and a sauna as well, which was soooo calming and relaxing with lockers in the bathrooms and showers plus shampoo.”
“It had a good amount of training boards as well with 2 sets of moon boards, their own huge training board, and more slat boards.”

“The place is huge and that can be a little intimidating but the welcoming atmosphere gets you over any apprehension quickly.”
From the reviews
Super impressed with this place. It's enormous, there are hundreds of boulder problems. The setting is incredible, obviously the setters are passionate about climbing. There were many dynos, comp style problems, and plenty of slab and overhang. The gym is very large, almost impersonal because of its size.
Really fun climbing gym. We did a drop in with a 7 year old. It was her first time and she loved it! Great staff and people hanging out, encouraging one another! The place is huge and that can be a little intimidating but the welcoming atmosphere gets you over any apprehension quickly.
I stopped here on the way up to Tahoe to get a good session in. This place is big with a lot of good bouldering. It had a good amount of training boards as well with 2 sets of moon boards, their own huge training board, and more slat boards.
Best Climbing Gym in California. Possibly the world. Top 5 in the universe for sure. Top tier setting, the community is astounding, If I was holding The Boulder Field and my wife over a cliff and only had the strength to lift one, I'd choose The Boulder Field 10 times out of 10.
Birthday parties at The Boulder Field
The Boulder Field hosts birthday parties — confirmed on their own site. Climbing parties come with staff who handle the harnesses and belaying, so parents can mostly watch. One thing that's different here: every guest needs a signed waiver — send the gym's waiver link to the other parents when you send invites, or check-in day gets slow. Packages, party rooms, and pricing change often, so check the current options and book ahead — weekend slots go fast at popular gyms.
Kids classes & camps at The Boulder Field
Reviews and the gym's own info mention kids programs at The Boulder Field — climbing classes, school-break camps, or a youth team where kids learn technique from coaches instead of just scrambling around. Program schedules and age groups change each season, so check the current lineup before you plan around one.
