4.5 ★★★★★ 463 Google reviews · Climbing gym in Mesa, Arizona
Sizable indoor rock climbing operation, with classes for a range of experience levels.
Plan your visit
- Day pass around $10 — check current rates; most gyms price gear rental separately and discount off-peak
- Gear rental available — the gym mentions rentals; shoes typically run ~$5–8 and a harness is often bundled with a ropes pass
- Waiver always required at climbing gyms — sign it online before you go to skip the front-desk line
- First timer? bouldering needs zero experience — rent shoes and walk in; staff will point you at the easiest problems
- Auto-belays mentioned here — clip in and climb ropes solo, no partner needed
- Kids programs classes, camps, or youth teams mentioned — check the current schedule
- Ages 0–18 — the gym's own stated range
- Memberships available — worth asking about if you'd climb more than a few times a month

From the reviews
The owner is awesome! I was super new to rock climbing and he gave a really good explanation and demonstration of what to do and not to do. If it's your first time rock climbing I would highly reccomend
Exactly what I'm looking for in indoor climbing. In an effort to find the right pair of shoes I have been to nearly every gear shop and climbing gym in Phoenix. They are not all created equal. Some are long standing institutions that care about their community and the future of climbing.
Fantastic climbing gym! Auto-belay system, so that anyone can climb, is brilliant! We will definitely return many more times in the future. Update: still an amazing place to visit. We are considering a membership so that we can attend regularly.
Climbed at focus on Christmas Eve as I was in town for the holidays. The staff were nice and efficient detailing the safety protocols. The setting at the gym was varied and interesting. One of the first gyms I've bouldered at that had continuations and variations to problems.
Kids classes & camps at Focus Climbing Center
Reviews and the gym's own info mention kids programs at Focus Climbing Center — climbing classes, school-break camps, or a youth team where kids learn technique from coaches instead of just scrambling around. Program schedules and age groups change each season, so check the current lineup before you plan around one.
Adaptive climbing
Focus Climbing Center is mentioned for adaptive climbing or paraclimbing — sessions, equipment, or coaching that make the walls climbable for people with disabilities. Offerings like this vary a lot gym to gym and schedules change, so call ahead to ask what's available and when the next session runs.
