What climbers say again and again
“The facility is spacious and well-maintained, with a variety of equipment to suit all workout preferences, from cardio machines to free weights.”
“I would have given 5 stars but they don’t have a sauna, or a steam room, which I learned that none of the associated YMCA’s have.”
“The friendly staff, clean facility, you mention it… Boll is the place to be.”
“The staff have been friendly and helpful without exception, and the facility has always been very clean and welcoming.”
From the reviews
Very cool Ymca! I love the design of the inside. I especially liked "The pointe" little workout room with weights, large windows, mirrors etc. That was perfect for me! Biggest drawback is the lack of parking/no parking. It is on your own street parking and you have to pay for it.
This fitness center stands out in the crowded fitness market for its commitment to member experience. The facility is spacious and well-maintained, with a variety of equipment to suit all workout preferences, from cardio machines to free weights.
I go to the Boll Family Y mainly to swim. I have tried other classes; Yoga, water aerobics, pilates, cycling and all have been fun. Occasionally, I play basketball. It is great to have so many options and an opportunity to try new things, (Tai-Chi is on my list)..
The Y downtown Detroit is the best! In the heart of the city it’s the perfect location. My children absolutely love coming here — the events, activities, programs, everything! The friendly staff, clean facility, you mention it… Boll is the place to be.

Adaptive climbing
Boll Family YMCA is mentioned for adaptive climbing or paraclimbing — sessions, equipment, or coaching that make the walls climbable for people with disabilities. Offerings like this vary a lot gym to gym and schedules change, so call ahead to ask what's available and when the next session runs.
