“The TB2 & Kilter are extremely fun and have "broken" in nicely (texture and grip) still grippy but doesn't tear the hands up.”
What climbers say again and again
“The team is welcoming and knowledgeable, the routes are creative and well-maintained, and the equipment is top-notch.”
“While not the largest gym in the cities, the amount of wall space, new routes going up, and training boards make it extremely fun and competitive.”
“Lots of options for climbing, at least in my opinion as a beginner; really amazing kid space that our girls (ages 7-11) LOVED; and overall just a very relaxing vibe.”
“We brought our teenagers for a first visit and the staff was incredibly helpful and patient— educated the kids and got them all set up.”
“They also have a decent gym set up & a co-working space.”
From the reviews
Update 5/6-Having used the gym on a somewhat regular basis wanted to update and edit my review! Still a very clean space, and the mix of routes is very good! Especially on the harder end of the scale (V7-11), there is a lot of challenging climbs with different "flavors" from extremely technical to extremely powerful…
Big Island Bouldering is a fantastic addition to the West Metro! The team is welcoming and knowledgeable, the routes are creative and well-maintained, and the equipment is top-notch. It's the perfect spot for kids, families, and climbers of all levels.
This place is AMAZING!! Our family went for the first time this week and we are all hooked. The vibe is genuinely friendly and the setup of the spaces is very thoughtful. There are many options for all levels & little to no waiting (and we were there at a super busy time).
What a gem of a climbing gym! You’re greeted by friendly staff, the workout area is expansive, and the bouldering options are phenomenal. Great holds, fun routes, and probably the best mats I’ve ever landed on! I’m looking forward to this being my new hangout!
Birthday parties at Big Island Bouldering
Big Island Bouldering hosts birthday parties — confirmed on their own site. Climbing parties come with staff who handle the harnesses and belaying, so parents can mostly watch. One thing that's different here: every guest needs a signed waiver — send the gym's waiver link to the other parents when you send invites, or check-in day gets slow. Packages, party rooms, and pricing change often, so check the current options and book ahead — weekend slots go fast at popular gyms.
Kids classes & camps at Big Island Bouldering
Reviews and the gym's own info mention kids programs at Big Island Bouldering — climbing classes, school-break camps, or a youth team where kids learn technique from coaches instead of just scrambling around. Program schedules and age groups change each season, so check the current lineup before you plan around one.
