From the reviews
Approach is always a good time for climbing! The routes they have are always challenging and fun. The route setters are so creative! SJ is an awesome hostess and it's such a fun atmosphere with the kids and Juke (gym dog) running around. It's a bit pricy, so maybe go during their discounted hours.
Staff is syper friendly and helpful. The gym is clean and first timers are incouraged instead of intimidated and prices at the pro shop are very competative and affordable. There is a kids room and lots of differnt walls to climb.
Went last night with my son and brother in law. We had a blast! The staff was friendly and took us through orientation quickly and safely. We divided up our time between bouldering (no harness, not as tall walls) and climbing with one of the eight auto-belays (strapped into a harness, taller walls, if you fall off,…
Wonderful place to get some energy out! Staff is very helpful and makes the process simple. Definitely thinking about memberships. They even have a kids room for the littles in your family :)
Birthday parties at Approach Climbing Gym
Approach Climbing Gym hosts birthday parties — confirmed on their own site. Climbing parties come with staff who handle the harnesses and belaying, so parents can mostly watch. One thing that's different here: every guest needs a signed waiver — send the gym's waiver link to the other parents when you send invites, or check-in day gets slow. Packages, party rooms, and pricing change often, so check the current options and book ahead — weekend slots go fast at popular gyms.
Kids classes & camps at Approach Climbing Gym
Reviews and the gym's own info mention kids programs at Approach Climbing Gym — climbing classes, school-break camps, or a youth team where kids learn technique from coaches instead of just scrambling around. Program schedules and age groups change each season, so check the current lineup before you plan around one.
Adaptive climbing
Approach Climbing Gym is mentioned for adaptive climbing or paraclimbing — sessions, equipment, or coaching that make the walls climbable for people with disabilities. Offerings like this vary a lot gym to gym and schedules change, so call ahead to ask what's available and when the next session runs.
