Climbing Gym Day Pass Prices by State (2026)

Nobody publishes climbing prices side by side — gyms list them one website at a time. So we mined them: across 302 US climbing gyms with a confirmed price on their own website or in climber reviews, the median day pass is $20, with the middle half of gyms between $15 and $26. Where a gym advertises several rates, we take the lowest adult walk-in rate, so read every number as a floor: “from $20.”

Median day pass by state

Massachusetts tops the table at $30; Virginia climbers get on the wall for a median of just $15. Only states with at least 5 priced gyms get their own row — the rest roll into a regional line below the table.

Methodology

Prices are mined, not surveyed: for each gym in our national directory we look for a dollar amount near admission wording on the gym's own website, and fall back to the median of price mentions in its customer reviews. We keep only definitive climbing gyms (venues Google types as a rock climbing gym) with a plausible day-pass figure, take the lowest adult walk-in rate when a gym lists several, and report the median per state — so these are honest floors, and a specific gym's current rate can differ. 302 gyms priced as of 2026-07-15. Gear rental (shoes, harness, chalk) is usually $5–8 extra. Wondering what you get for the money? Read our day-pass cost guide, or browse the best climbing gyms by state and the full stats hub.
