What climbers say again and again
“staff is so sweet and friendly, everything is always clean and put in place (to a reasonable extent) love that students get in free!”
“gym goers here—whether they’re students or community members—are very polite, say excuse me, and re-rack and wipe down the equipment most of the time.”
From the reviews
As an alumnus it has been fantastic to get back to swimming again in the three lane lap pool on these beautiful summer days. An always friendly staff greats you and everyone is being Covid safe. The lockers are with reset combinations so you don’t need to bring your own lock & the showers are warm and clean.
as an alumnus, the rec is my best kept secret, and for good reason! i’ve been going to the rec since it’s opening in 2011; and have yet to find another gym that is as well-kept as the rec.

I've been coming here since it opened. Overall it's a great gym. Nice equipment, clean, and plenty of lockers. Some minor complaints: The spin class is in the open so the blaring music can be heard throughout the whole gym. It's really annoying when you're trying to workout close to the class.
Adaptive climbing
Student Recreation Wellness Center is mentioned for adaptive climbing or paraclimbing — sessions, equipment, or coaching that make the walls climbable for people with disabilities. Offerings like this vary a lot gym to gym and schedules change, so call ahead to ask what's available and when the next session runs.
